Weddings at Quinta do Boiro

Nine Hectares. One Celebration.
Forever Yours

One couple, nine hectares, a whole weekend — not a venue you visit, but one you live in.

Every detail of your day unfolds within a setting shaped by seven centuries of history. From the baroque chapel to the 14th century fountain, from cocktails under the bougainvillea to fireworks beneath the Alenquer stars — Quinta do Boiro transforms celebrations into stories.

When you book Quinta do Boiro, the gates close behind your guests. Nine hectares — gardens, vineyards, chapel and manor — held for one celebration at a time. No other party. No strangers at the pool.

And when the music stops, you don't have to leave — the manor and apartments sleep the two of you and your closest family, and breakfast the morning after is taken together, among the vines.

The chapel interior

The Chapel

The Heart
of the Estate

At the heart of the estate stands our private chapel — a jewel of Portuguese baroque craftsmanship with an intricately gilded altarpiece in marble and gold, framed by original stone arches.

It is an intimate space for quiet moments and photographs — couples often steal away from the celebration to stand for a moment beneath the gilded altar, where prayers have been spoken for hundreds of years.

The Garden Pavilion

Celebrations Under Canvas

In the middle of the vines: long tables, linen, candlelight, the hills beyond. The pavilion moves with the day — sun-drenched lunch, golden-hour ceremony, dinner and dancing under canvas as the stars come out.

With sweeping views over the Alenquer hills, the pavilion complements the reception hall and courtyards, giving every event a stage in the landscape itself.

The Wine

Grown in the
Heart of Alenquer
Forever in Yours

Alenquer in a glass — grown in these hills, poured at the estate.

Alenquer is one of Portugal's most respected wine sub-regions, blessed with limestone-rich soils, Atlantic breezes and warm summers that produce wines of remarkable depth and elegance.

Surrounding Quinta do Boiro, vines stretch across terraced hillsides, just as they have for centuries. We cultivate traditional Portuguese varieties producing wines that speak of this specific, beautiful place.

Join us for a vineyard walk, a private tasting, or simply uncork a bottle on the pool roof top terrace as the sun sets over the valley.

White Wines

Our white wines are based on three traditional Portuguese grape varieties — Arinto, Seara Nova and Vital — which thrive in our soils and climate.

White Blend

Arinto · Seara Nova · Vital

A blend of the three varieties producing a fresh, aromatic and balanced wine. The profile is vibrant, with citrus and floral notes, supported by a remarkably lively acidity that gives the wine precision and food-pairing versatility.

Single Variety

Arinto

A monovarietal expression of Arinto — a grape known for its natural acidity and aging potential. The wine shows mineral tension, citrus character and structure, refreshing in youth and capable of developing complexity over time.

Red Wines

Our red portfolio is built around blends that combine international and Portuguese varieties to express depth and vineyard character.

Estate

Red Blend

Our entry-level red — a structured and terroir-driven blend of Pinot Noir, Castelão, Syrah and Alicante Bouschet. Elegant yet deep, with red fruit, subtle spice and good balance, designed to be versatile and expressive of the estate.

Reserve

Old Vine Blend

Produced from old vineyards, this reserve combines Alicante Bouschet and Tinta Roriz. Greater concentration, complexity and structure, showing dark fruit, earthy notes and significant aging potential.

Super Reserve

Syrah

Our flagship red — built from 80% Syrah, aged for several months in oak. Powerful yet refined, with layers of black fruit, spice and a long, structured finish.

Letters from India · Private correspondence of Jorge de Amaral e Vasconcelos · 1649–1656

There go from my brother's money two thousand and forty xerafins in diamonds, for there was no other way left in which they might be sent; they travel in the form of bills of lading. There go also a diamond choker and six rings, and a carpet of four and a half varas — all of it from his money.

The five hundred cruzados in Your Mercy's keeping shall be joined with my four thousand cruzados, and with this money now arriving from my brother, if Your Mercy should find Quinta do Boiro — which Vicente Pereira tells me is a good one — or another that seems good to Your Mercy, make purchase of it; for I am writing at length to my brother of this money, since next year I shall send more of it.

Next year there shall go, without fail, another two thousand cruzados and more, for I have them already, and it may be that I shall invest in cinnamon so that you may reach a thousand and five hundred — this is the capital with which I find myself. For the pledge of the quinta, if Your Mercy thinks it well…

Our Story

Seven Centuries
of Love

The first references to Quinta do Boiro date back to the 14th century, when this land served as a resting place for pilgrims travelling the Rota do Espírito Santo. The estate has witnessed centuries of Portuguese history from its vantage point in the hills above Alenquer.

Today, under new family ownership, Quinta do Boiro has been lovingly restored — awakening from decades of dormancy to find a new purpose as a place where people gather to celebrate, rest and reconnect with the land.

Just 45 minutes from Lisbon's international airport, the estate combines authentic Portuguese heritage with thoughtful modern comforts across several hectares.

The Vision

Why Boiro Exists

Quinta do Boiro owes its revival to the vision and care of its founder — who looks after the estate, welcomes its guests, and shapes every celebration with attention to detail.

Diogo

Diogo Caleiro

Founder

An engineer by training, Diogo spent over fifteen years developing properties across Europe and Latin America, before bringing that same care home to Quinta do Boiro: reviving its vineyards, creating its wine, and opening its gates to weddings, stays and rural escapes. From the vine to the table to your stay, every detail is looked after personally. That's the difference you feel.
